The Plan

I have a plan.  It is, at best a very strategic plan that lacks detail, concert and even time of execution.  I have not considered the many consequences my actions will have on not only me but my family, although to be fair many of these actions have been thought out beyond deserving necessity.  The plan is to succeed.  Facebook gave me the inspiration to pursue this plan because people that call themselves "photographers" have eroded this proud occupation to the point where it is now beyond the fad stage and erupting into an "anyone can do this" sort of enterprise.  People now have access to SLR camera like never before, cheapening the quality of photographs but still charging outrageous amounts of money for substandard quality.  They have built such a sense of entitlement that it has gone beyond a trade and more of a method of extortion of friends, relatives and acquaintances.  I want to undercut this entire enterprise.  I do not want to discourage these people from trying to make a living from photography, but simply challenge them to be better and charge less.  Photographs are an emotional tie for generations and deserve the respect of the person creating the image.  Pictures are not a gimmick or a tool to make money but rather a piece of history, whether that history is contained within a family or community.  If I can undercut the prices in the region I decide to set up in, I anticipate that it will raise the standard and quality of the competition while lowering the prices; a situation where all can benefit, including and most importantly, the people that receive the pictures.  I am not in this business to make money but rather to provide people the happiness they deserve with the gift of remembering.
